I Come Back To You Now, At The Turn Of The Tide

So, it's time for me to write my now annual round up of the year.  I see I wrote the last one almost exactly a year ago to the day, but as today is the last day of the Mayan calendar, it feels right to do it now.

Here are the things I have learned this year, or been reminded of.  There is no particular order to it, and some are very similar to last year for which I apologise - but here we go:

Things I Have Learned Or Re-Learned In 2012 And Simple Facts:

  • I am not as weak and submissive as I sometimes think I am
  • White tattoos are beautiful
  • I am a Daughter of Fire
  • Grimmauld Place is the best house I could wish for, with the best housemates
  • No-one is too old for Fairy Tales
  • Sometimes, telling the truth or hearing the truth hurts more than you could ever imagine;  But the truth is what you need to hear and ultimately, you will be glad of it later.
  • I will always believe in love and wear my heart on my sleeve
  • I need to enjoy being the Leading Lady in the story of my own life for a while, without wanting or needing a Leading Man beside me
  • Crying is always healthy
  • Being Chloe PureBlood, the Head Girl of Slytherin or the Scarlet Harlot is truly wonderful; being Chloe Hall is also amazing
  • People will always turn up in your life when you need them, for as long as you need them to be there, even if you don't know it at the time
  • Joss is Boss
  • "When you can't run, you crawl.  When you can't crawl, when you can't do that, you find someone to carry you"
  • I'm more curious than Alice
  • Patience is definitely a virtue, but one which I missed out on
  • Always be wary of anyone who tries to make themselves look more like someone else
  • Follow your heart, but always remember to take your head with you
  • The Library at Arundel Castle is a place of wonder and magic and I'll never go there again
  • I really am a Slytherin;  A Slytherin of the Severus Snape persuasion, and I'm fiercely proud of that
  • The Harry Potter Studio Tour visit in April was genuinely one of the best days I've ever had
  • Sunday Confessional on Facebook is too much fun;  it also makes me smile when people tell me how much they enjoy them and how they look forward to it.  I don't think that's just because of the slightly naughty things I post sometimes...
  • I will always be an adult who can appreciate things with a child-like wonder and I'm proud of that
  • I have some of the very best friends I could ever wish for.  I've had the opportunity to see which of my acquaintances are real friends, which are fair-weather friends and which really weren't ever friends at all this year, as with last year.  I've also made some really great new ones in these last 12 months (you know who you are), rediscovered a few (you also know who you are) and rid myself of those who weren't (I suspect they know who they are too)
  • Never trust anyone who thinks "The Goonies" is "boring"
  • I need to learn to play the violin again
  • Don't hold blindly onto the past; things and people do change and you just have to accept that.  The people who move forward, voluntarily, with you are the ones worth keeping.
  • Wives are still FTW
  • No-one can make you feel inferior, without your consent
  • My Patronus is actually a Wolf
  • I love my little cousin and I'm very proud of her
  • Although I don't have any actual sisters, my Urban Family is better than any blood-sisters I could have
  • "Aim to misbehave"
  • Electro Swing is incredible live
  • Dubstep Violin is brilliant
  • I despise lies and liars; I adore good punctuation, grammar and spelling
  • Intelligence is sexy
  • Cheesy poofs and Monster Rehab = the best cure for anything
  • Becoming the official promoter of Abandoned is one of my proudest achievements of the year and I'm so grateful to Faye for passing the torch on to me
  • I really hate the use of "lol".  It hurts my brain
  • Linkin Park are still amazing
I think that just about sums it up for now :)
